Department Information
English:
The English and ELD Department focuses on ensuring all students are able to read, write, speak, and listen in the English language. Our teachers focus on the language and literacy skills the students bring to the classroom and then build on those skills to help them succeed. We focus on both literary and informative texts, introducing students to reading material they may or may not be familiar with. Students will write essays, work in groups on project-based assessments, take formative and summative assessments, and answer open-ended questions to help with their comprehension and understanding of the real world. As a department, we strive to help our students focus on being able to take the skills learned in their English and ELD classes to the real world and their other subjects.
